Sperm Induction
Sperm Induction
Generally, our brain releases a hormone called the gonadotrophin hormone (GnRH) pituitary gland. Two pituitary hormones are critical to male fertility: FSH which produces sperm and LH which produces testosterone. A problem in the pituitary gland can cause a deficiency of these hormones and therefore infertility. Men born with this problem have ‘congenital deficiency’. Sperm induction aims to rectify this by restoring hormone levels and consequently the fertility of the patient.
What Does Our Treatment Involve?
We provide a structured program: after seeing you for an initial assessment, we initiate a schedule of planned diet and will prescribe certain vitamins which are self-consuming. Subsequently, we
will see you every 3 months for an assessment of semen analysis and testosterone levels. The overall program can take between 5 to 6 months to get optimal results. From our perspective, it is key to patients about their progress and openly discuss personal timelines around fertility.
10% of patients are non-responsive to this treatment. These patients may require microsurgical sperm retrieval (mTESE), a highly specialized operation that we are delighted to offer in our clinic.
